U.S. stocks open Thursday on the front foot after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq notched fresh record highs — and the day’s main event arrives at 2 p.m. ET, when the Federal Reserve releases the minutes of its latest meeting. Investors will parse every line for clues on the rate path.
Overnight movers: SPCX (SpaceX) slipped about 2 per cent on reports the company is seeking $40 billion in financing — $10 billion in loans plus $30 billion in debt — to fund Nvidia chip purchases. NLST (Netlist) surged 18 per cent after Micron agreed to pay $600 million to license its patents, ending a long court fight.
PENG (Penguin Solutions) rose 6 per cent on a record fiscal fourth quarter, with sales up 68 per cent year over year to $567 million. WDC (Western Digital) fell 7 per cent after Bloomberg reported Seagate is competing with Toshiba to buy TDK’s hard-drive magnetic-heads business. In commodities, Brent crude hovered near $101.54 with WTI around $90.35.
On the insider front: Uxin CEO Kun Dai bought 8,683 shares on October 5 at an average $1.27 (about $11,027), lifting his ownership by 28.42 per cent under a 10b5-1 plan, with additional buys on October 1–2.
