Nurses at Mass General Brigham have filed a fourth unfair labor practice charge as they head toward an open-ended strike set to begin at 7 a.m. on October 14, the Massachusetts Nurses Association announced.
The latest charge alleges retaliation by the hospital giant, including schedule changes targeting nurses who took part in a July strike and threats over wearing union buttons — classic flashpoints in American hospital labour fights.
The union delivered its 10-day strike notice on October 2, setting the stage for what could be one of the largest hospital strikes in Massachusetts history if no deal is reached.
Hospital strikes have rippled across the U.S. in recent years as nurses press for safer staffing ratios and better pay. With a week to go, patients and the Boston-area health system are bracing for disruption — and both sides know the clock is the negotiator now.
