SEC filings disclosed Tuesday revealed a cluster of notable insider purchases, with major shareholders putting millions of dollars to work in Anteris Technologies, Sonic Automotive and Prothena Corporation.

The biggest buyer was L1 Capital Pty Ltd, a major shareholder of Anteris Technologies Global Corp (NASDAQ: AVR), which bought 648,455 shares for $4.87 million on October 5 and another 236,354 shares for $1.84 million on October 2, lifting its holding to 12.78 million shares. At Sonic Automotive (NYSE: SAH), major shareholder Paul P. Rusnak bought 21,645 shares for $1.29 million on October 1, raising his stake to 5.12 million shares. And at Prothena Corporation plc (NASDAQ: PRTA), major shareholder William P. Scully bought 100,000 shares for $857,000 on October 2, taking his position to 314,000 shares.

Smaller disclosed purchases included Uxin Limited (NASDAQ: UXIN) CEO Kun Dai, who bought 8,683 shares for $11,027 on October 5.

Context matters: insider purchases can signal confidence, but sales are often routine. Amazon CEO Douglas Herrington's 1,000-share sale disclosed the same day, for instance, was a pre-arranged 10b5-1 plan sale — a reminder that not every disclosure is a signal.
