The Tampa Bay Rays took Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Saturday, beating the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

Cleveland struck first in the opening inning, but Tampa Bay levelled in the third and edged ahead in the sixth before the game turned decisively in the seventh, when the Rays scored three times to build a cushion the Guardians could not close.

Cleveland answered with two runs of its own in the bottom of the seventh to keep the game alive, only for Tampa Bay to add two insurance runs in the ninth. The Rays out-hit the Guardians 11 to 8, and Cleveland's two errors did not help its cause.

The result tightens the focus on the remaining games of the best-of-seven series, with Cleveland now needing a response at home to keep Tampa Bay from taking control of the pennant race.
