MediaTek has unveiled its flagship Dimensity 9600 Pro and 9600M mobile processors, built on 2-nanometre technology and aimed squarely at artificial intelligence, gaming and camera performance in the next wave of premium phones.

The company says the 9600 Pro delivers up to 17 per cent faster single-core performance and up to 27 per cent higher peak graphics performance than its predecessor, alongside support for advanced on-device AI and computational photography, including high-quality video recording.

On-device AI is the strategic point: running more tasks on the phone itself, rather than in the cloud, is faster, works offline and keeps personal data on the device — a pitch every major chipmaker is now making.

Vivo Malaysia confirmed its upcoming X500 smartphone series will use the new platform, with a local launch scheduled for late October, giving the chipset an early commercial debut.
