The Milwaukee Brewers moved within one win of the World Series on Wednesday night, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 at Dodger Stadium to take a 3-0 lead in the National League Championship Series.
Jackson Chourio opened the game with a solo home run on the first pitch from Dodgers starter Blake Snell — a rare postseason feat, and the second straight year Chourio has hit a first-pitch leadoff homer against Los Angeles in the NLCS.
The Dodgers briefly led 2-1 in the sixth when Will Smith doubled home two runs, but Milwaukee answered with back-to-back home runs and pulled away late, adding insurance runs in the eighth and ninth. Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-2 with a walk in the loss.
Los Angeles, chasing a third straight World Series title, must now win four straight games to survive. In the American League series, Tampa Bay and Cleveland are tied 1-1 heading into Game 3 in Cleveland on Thursday.
