Oklahoma pulled off the upset of the college football season Saturday, beating No. 1 Texas 27-24 in the Red River rivalry at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Tate Sandell drilled a 47-yard field goal on the final play to hand the Sooners their first win over a No. 1 team since the 2007 Big 12 title game against Missouri - and just their first victory over a top-ranked Texas side in five tries.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning threw three touchdowns but was intercepted twice, including a pick by Omarion Robinson with 19 seconds left that set up the winning kick. The Longhorns also watched kicker Gianni Spetic miss a 53-yard attempt with 1:55 remaining that would have flipped the ending.

Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer managed the game efficiently, finishing 18-of-26 for 155 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. His final-minute connections with Isaiah Sategna for 13 and 20 yards moved the Sooners into field-goal range for Sandell's heroics.

Oklahoma moves to 3-2 (1-1 SEC) while Texas falls to 4-1 (1-1) and now faces a quick turnaround: the Longhorns host No. 16 Florida next.
