A Johannesburg running event is using fancy dress for a serious health message. The Hollard Daredevil Run is scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2026, at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The 5km run promotes awareness of prostate and testicular cancer, two conditions where early detection through screening and prompt medical advice can make a major difference to outcomes.
Men's health campaigns often struggle for attention compared with other causes, and novelty-format events are one way organisers try to get screening conversations started among men who might otherwise avoid a clinic visit.
Health professionals routinely advise men - particularly those over 50, or younger men with a family history - to discuss prostate screening with their doctor, and to seek medical advice quickly for any testicular lump or change.
