Security teams drowning in alerts are being offered a new kind of colleague. Axonius on Monday introduced AI Workforce, a product that fields more than 50 types of “virtual workers” designed to act on verified asset data — monitoring environments continuously, identifying high-risk exposures and carrying out remediation.

The virtual workers cover tasks including threat intelligence, exposure triage and what the company calls Shadow AI — the unsanctioned artificial intelligence tools employees adopt on their own. Each worker monitors, acts and reports progress, with a human-in-the-loop approval checkpoint for actions that require one.

The launch reflects a broader shift in enterprise security software: vendors are moving from dashboards that describe problems to agents that are expected to fix them, at least the routine ones. Axonius’ pitch is that its workers act on data the platform has already verified across a customer’s devices, cloud services and identities, rather than on raw, conflicting feeds.

Whether security leaders will trust automated workers with remediation rights is the open question of the category. Axonius is betting that verified data plus human checkpoints is the combination that gets the answer to yes.
