Los Angeles County's alert system issued an immediate evacuation order on the afternoon of October 15 for neighbourhoods around Roberts and San Gabriel Canyon near Azusa.

The Azusa Police Department message described a fast-moving wildfire in the canyon area and told residents their safety was in danger if they stayed. The alert was effective from 1:40 p.m. local time.

Officials directed residents to leave right away, call 911 if they needed emergency help, and check AlertLA for updates as conditions changed.

Canyon communities above the San Gabriel Valley face recurring fire risk in dry, windy conditions, and evacuation orders there are typically issued early because narrow roads limit how quickly residents can get out.
