Toronto Public Health is urging residents to get vaccinated against mpox as cases of the virus rise across the city.
The health unit's push, announced October 5, calls on eligible residents to protect themselves as infections climb. The campaign is part of a busy fall public-health calendar that also includes Fire Prevention Week programming and a rare public open house at the city's wastewater infrastructure facilities.
Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, spreads through close contact and can be prevented with vaccination. Public health officials say staying up to date on the vaccine is the best defence as case counts move upward.
Residents can find eligibility details and clinic locations through Toronto Public Health's website and 311 services.
