Toronto joined a global day of protest on Saturday. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the U.S. Consulate General on University Avenue for a 'No Kings' rally before marching shoulder to shoulder through downtown streets, CP24 reported.

The Toronto event, organized by Democrats Abroad Toronto, was one of more than 2,700 No Kings demonstrations held the same day. Organizers framed the protests as a stand for democracy, free speech, due process and the rule of law, and against what they describe as authoritarian overreach by the Trump administration, including its immigration crackdown, threats against universities and cuts to health-care programs.

Toronto marchers carried handmade placards calling for democracy to be protected and for elected officials to be held accountable. No arrests or major incidents were reported by mid-evening as the march moved through the downtown core.

The Toronto rally mirrored the movement's main events in the United States, where organizers said millions turned out across all 50 states. For the Americans living in Toronto who organized Saturday's march, the message was aimed across the border: that opposition to the administration's direction is organized, international and growing.
