Peel Regional Police say a violent carjacking network operating across the Greater Toronto Area has been dismantled. Ten people — eight men and two youths — have been arrested and face a combined 128 charges following an eight-month investigation dubbed Project High Guard, police announced at a news conference in Mississauga on Monday morning.

Investigators linked the group to 21 carjackings and high-end vehicle thefts committed between June 2025 and April 2026 in Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton. In many of the incidents, police say knives or firearms were brandished, and some victims were hospitalized with severe injuries. Fifteen stolen vehicles worth roughly $1.4 million were recovered, along with four illegal firearms; a $500,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinan was among the vehicles taken.

Detective Sergeant Earl Scott of Peel’s central robbery squad said officers had “disrupted a violent criminal network,” and police say the group also recruited younger offenders into the thefts — a pattern investigators across the GTA have flagged as carjacking crews increasingly rely on youths.

The arrests land amid a sustained regional push against auto theft, which has become one of the GTA’s most politically charged crime issues. Police are asking anyone with information about the incidents covered by Project High Guard to contact investigators.
