The Toronto Maple Leafs closed out the Denver stop of their road trip in style Saturday night, rallying from 3-2 down to beat the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 at Ball Arena. Toronto trailed 2-1 after the first period and fell behind again midway through the second before ripping off four unanswered goals.

William Nylander was the engine of the comeback, tying a career high with five points on two goals and three assists. Auston Matthews chipped in two goals - one on the power play, one into the empty net - plus two assists, while Easton Cowan buried the go-ahead goal at 17:33 of the second, just 46 seconds after Nylander had knotted the score. Sergei Bobrovsky held the fort with 30 saves.

The victory came at a cost. Defenceman Chris Tanev exited at 11:08 of the first period with an upper-body injury after taking a bump from behind from Colorado's Artturi Lehkonen, and he did not return. Tanev has already been limited this season, dressing for just 11 games.

Nathan MacKinnon scored twice for the Avalanche, who went 0-for-5 on the power play and absorbed their first home loss of the season. The Leafs now head to Utah to finish their three-game road trip Tuesday night.
