The Toronto fraud trial of self-styled 'Crypto King' Aiden Pleterski heard detailed accounting evidence on Friday, as an Ontario Securities Commission forensic accountant traced what happened to tens of millions of investor dollars.
OSC senior forensic accountant Albert Ciorma testified that investors gave Pleterski $36.3 million between 2020 and 2022, and that none of it was sent to FXChoice, the platform his contracts said he would use. Only about $113,000 went to other forex or crypto platforms.
Ciorma itemized about $16.3 million in personal spending, including $5.6 million on luxury vehicles, $4.9 million in credit-card bills, $870,000 on travel and private jets, $598,000 on security, nearly $3.7 million to Pleterski's parents, and $609,000 in credit-card cash advances. About $16.1 million was paid back out to investors as 'returns,' the audit found.
Pleterski, 27, has pleaded not guilty to fraud over $5,000 and money laundering. He was charged in May 2024 after an OSC and Durham Regional Police investigation. The trial continues Monday with further accountant testimony.
