Edmonton kept its perfect start rolling on Tuesday night. The Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 at Crypto.com Arena to extend their win streak to five and finish a three-game California road trip without a loss.
Connor McDavid celebrated his 800th career NHL game with four points — a goal and three assists. He set up first-period goals by Leon Draisaitl and Vasily Podkolzin, scored one himself in a three-goal opening frame, and assisted on Podkolzin's late empty-net goal. Podkolzin finished with two goals and extended his point streak to six games.
Goaltender Devon Levi was the other star, turning aside shot after shot in a career-best performance as Los Angeles pushed back over the final 40 minutes.
McDavid now leads the NHL in scoring early in the season, and Edmonton remains the league's only team yet to lose in regulation. The Oilers return home in what their captain called a nice spot, even if, in his words, the win was not the prettiest.
