The Indianapolis Colts beat the Washington Commanders 30-13 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Sunday, the NFL’s first London game of the season. The 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff wrapped up shortly after 12:30 p.m. EDT, with the Colts moving to 2-2 and the Commanders falling to 1-3.
Jonathan Taylor powered the win with two rushing touchdowns — both five-yard runs, the second giving Indianapolis a 17-6 third-quarter lead — finishing with 95 yards on 20 carries. He celebrated his first score by pantomiming drinking tea for the London crowd.
Daniel Jones went 19-of-34 passing for 143 yards with an interception and a lost fumble, but ran in a four-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Kicker Spencer Shrader added three field goals from 48, 52 and 44 yards.
It was a brutal day at quarterback for Washington. Jayden Daniels was already out with an elbow injury; backup Marcus Mariota started but left in the first quarter after being sacked, suffering a knee injury. Third-string rookie Athan Kaliakmanis, a seventh-round pick, finished 15-of-33 for 186 yards with one touchdown and one interception — his first NFL touchdown pass, a 47-yard deep ball to Treylon Burks, cut the deficit to 17-13, though an 87-yarder was called back by penalty. The turning point came when Jaylon Carlies intercepted Kaliakmanis early in the third at the Washington 27 and returned it to the 20, setting up Taylor’s second score. Wide receiver Jaylin Lane was carted off with an ankle injury on a kickoff return.
