Travellers using smaller Canada-U.S. land crossings will face shorter winter hours this year. Revised schedules take effect at 2 a.m. local time on November 1, 2026 and run until March 14, 2027, covering 26 ports of entry: four in Alberta, nine in British Columbia and 13 in Manitoba.

In Alberta, crossings including Aden and Del Bonita will operate 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Carway stays open until midnight. In British Columbia, busier posts such as Aldergrove and Fraser, near Vancouver's Lower Mainland, will run 9 a.m. to 1 a.m., while smaller posts including Chopaka and Midway are set at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

At many of the smaller crossings, commercial traffic will be limited to Monday to Friday, excluding holidays, even where travellers can still cross seven days a week.

The seasonal reductions are a recurring feature of winter operations at low-volume posts, but they matter for border communities whose nearest alternative crossing can be an hour or more away. Travellers are advised to check the hours for their specific port of entry before setting out.
