The international airports in Vancouver and Bengaluru have signed a sister-airport agreement aimed at strengthening operational, technological, economic and air-service links between southern India and western Canada.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on Friday at Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport, in the presence of Canada's Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, Canada's High Commissioner to India, Christopher Cooter, and Consul General Ryan Ward.

According to Bangalore International Airport Limited, the agreement sets out seven areas of collaboration. The partners plan to work on Vancouver airport's Digital Twin technology, explore emerging tools and test pilot projects together.

The deal also aims to move more air cargo between the two regions, particularly for the technology sectors in both cities, and states a goal of establishing direct air services between Bengaluru and Vancouver.
