New York City FC and Los Angeles FC settled for a point each on Saturday, drawing 1-1 in an end-to-end Major League Soccer match at Citi Field in New York.

Los Angeles struck first in first-half stoppage time, Leo Walta finding the net at 45+1 to send the visitors in ahead. New York levelled on 59 minutes, when Andres Perea powered home a header from Nicolas Fernandez Mercau's corner delivery.

Both sides chased a winner in a frantic finish. Hugo Lloris denied Fernandez Mercau and Talles Magno late on for the hosts, while Matt Freese was called into action at the other end as Los Angeles countered.

The closest call came in the dying seconds: Son Heung-min smashed a low drive off the post, and Sergio Vasquez dragged the rebound wide, leaving the points shared. New York City FC are back in action next Saturday, October 24, away to Orlando City SC.
