Downtown Los Angeles became one of the largest stages of Saturday's nationwide 'No Kings: Vote Early' day of action, as thousands of demonstrators gathered at Gloria Molina Grand Park, near City Hall at 200 North Spring Street, MyNewsLA reported.
The rally began at 1 p.m. Pacific, with a march at about 2 p.m. following a roughly 1.5-mile route beginning on Spring Street and returning to City Hall, concluding around 5 p.m. The Los Angeles event, organized by 50501 SoCal in partnership with more than 30 organizations, focused on opposition to federal immigration enforcement, concerns about election interference, and turning out early voters for the November midterms.
Scheduled speakers included Assemblyman Isaac Bryan, Jillian Burgos of Housing for All, Ernesto Ayala, Shannon Rivers, Cliff Pinkerton of California Ranked Choice Voting and Paul Ramirez of Valley Defensa, with representatives of Black Lives Matter Grassroots LA also expected. Izzy T and Shelton performed, alongside a DJ set by Swage.
Los Angeles County alone had more than 40 events planned for the day, and New York City hosted its own mass events, including VOTEFEST NYC at Washington Square Park and a march near Central Park. Organizers nationally put the map at more than 2,500 events in all 50 states, backed by a coalition including the ACLU, the American Federation of Teachers, Black Voters Matter Fund, Indivisible, the League of Women Voters and MoveOn.
The October 17 mobilization is the movement's fourth nationwide day, following protests in June and October 2025 and March 2026 — the last of which organizers estimated at nine million participants. This edition deliberately ties the street action to the ballot box, with walks to polling stations and voter-planning drives built into the programme.
