President Donald Trump confused Brazil with India in a Truth Social post on Sunday, claiming 125 million people voted that day "in the first round of India's Presidential Election" with results out the same day.

No such election took place in India. India does not hold direct presidential elections at all — its president is chosen indirectly by an electoral college — and no Indian vote occurred on October 4.

The roughly 125 million figure Trump cited matches the total valid votes cast in Brazil's actual presidential first round held the same day, in which Flavio Bolsonaro edged Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to force an October 25 runoff.

Trump used the mix-up to attack American vote-counting, writing that Detroit, Philadelphia and California take "weeks to Rig, I mean, calculate" far smaller vote totals, and declaring that "Voting in America is CORRUPT!!!"

The White House Rapid Response account reposted the message, and its comment sections quickly filled with corrections pointing out the error.
