Toronto gamers are getting a first on this continent. EB Games Canada has announced it will open Nintendo's first-ever store-within-a-store in North America at its flagship Toronto location, with the doors opening to the public at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 17.
The permanent, 1,500-square-foot Nintendo space will sit inside the EB Games at 267 Yonge Street, across from the Toronto Eaton Centre. Rather than a few shelves of product, it is being built as a dedicated retail environment bringing Nintendo games, characters and worlds together under one roof.
Inside, shoppers will find Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and software, playable games at demo systems, Nintendo-themed displays, merchandise and photo opportunities. The space will also carry a selection of My Mario merchandise, some of it available exclusively through the Nintendo space in Canada, according to the announcement.
EB Games Canada owner and CEO Stéphan Tétrault said physical retail still has an important role in bringing players together around the games they love, while Nintendo of Canada vice-president and general manager Susan Pennefather called the space an incredible place to explore what is new and celebrate Nintendo's iconic characters. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for opening morning.
