A man was seriously injured on Saturday night when an SUV struck him in a commercial parking lot in Brampton, in Toronto's northwest GTA, and the driver fled the scene, Peel Regional Police say.
Emergency services were called at about 7:44 p.m. to the lot near Orenda Road East and Rutherford Road. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries; police have not released his age or an update on his condition.
Investigators say the SUV is believed to have front-end damage from the collision. As of early Sunday, police had no further description of the vehicle or the driver to release.
Peel police are asking anyone who was in the area on Saturday evening — including drivers with dashcam video and businesses with parking-lot cameras — to come forward as the hit-and-run investigation continues.
