Prime Minister Mark Carney brought his national-unity message to Calgary on October 15, headlining a Forever Canadian rally at the BMO Centre and speaking with union workers at a local business ahead of Alberta's October 19 referendum.

Carney urged Albertans to vote against beginning a separation process, arguing the province and the country are stronger together. The Calgary stop is part of a final-week push by pro-Canada voices as the non-binding vote approaches.

Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi and former premier Rachel Notley are also headlining rallies in Edmonton in the closing days. Premier Danielle Smith has said she will vote to remain in Canada and will not call another referendum if the remain side wins.

Advance voting is already underway across Alberta. The referendum asks voters about separation and several other questions, and campaigners on both sides are spending the final stretch making their case to undecided voters.
