Drake Maye bounced back from a three-turnover Week 3 nightmare in spectacular fashion Sunday, throwing three touchdown passes as the New England Patriots stunned the Buffalo Bills 29-26 in Orchard Park.
Trailing 26-21 late in the fourth quarter, Maye found undrafted second-year receiver Efton Chism III for a leaping, one-handed 23-yard touchdown in the right corner of the end zone with 1:50 remaining. Maye then connected with Rhamondre Stevenson on the two-point conversion to make it 29-26. Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson could only tip his cap afterward: 'An elevated guy made a hell of a catch,' he said.
Buffalo had one last chance, but Josh Allen — who had earlier thrown a 34-yard go-ahead strike to Keon Coleman — was picked off by Patriots safety Craig Woodson at the New England 19-yard line with 1:14 left, sealing the upset.
Maye finished 22 of 37 for 269 yards with three touchdowns and added a team-high 53 rushing yards. The loss is Buffalo's first of the season (3-1) and the first-ever at the new Highmark Stadium, while the Patriots (2-2) are back at .500.
