Jack Johnson is taking the Surfilmusic Tour across the Atlantic. The singer has announced a European run for next summer, kicking off at the Tollwood Festival in Munich on June 23 and closing at Ageas Cooljazz in Cascais, Portugal, on July 15, with stops in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, England and Spain in between.
The London date is the run’s centrepiece: Johnson plays The O2 on July 4, a show that forms part of the arena’s 20th anniversary celebrations, with Ben Harper also performing. Longtime friends Donavon Frankenreiter and Garrett Dutton — G.Love — join as support in a special duo format on select dates across the tour.
Presales began today, October 19, in select markets and run through Friday, October 23. The public on-sale starts Thursday, October 22 for England and France, followed by Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal on Friday, October 23, with tickets and details at Johnson’s official site.
Johnson arrives in Europe with momentum: he has just completed the North American leg of the tour, closing with two sold-out performances at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 10–11 that sold 31,332 tickets and grossed $4,428,641. “Surfilmusic” is also the name of his career documentary, released in June, with a score created by Johnson and Hermanos Gutiérrez, who supported on select North American dates. The tour heads to Australia and New Zealand in November and South America in February before the European summer run.
