Joe Manganiello is opening up about a painful chapter. In an excerpt from his upcoming memoir "Bloodlines," obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor reveals he was fitted for his Deathstroke costume in Ben Affleck's since-shelved Batman movie while recovering from a near-fatal health battle — wearing an ostomy bag the whole time.

Manganiello recalls the stressful fitting, saying he stopped eating the afternoon before to make sure the bag was empty. "I had to be absolutely sure nothing would come out in the bag while I wore the suit because under that degree of compression it would probably explode," he wrote.

The Deathstroke role — which Affleck had offered him for his planned Batman film — never made it to screen, but the anecdote has already become one of the memoir's most talked-about revelations, a candid look at what the actor was privately enduring while chasing one of Hollywood's biggest prizes.
