Ontario Provincial Police have laid seven charges against a 24-year-old Kitchener man after a serious two-vehicle crash on Highway 427 in Toronto left six people hospitalized, one in life-threatening condition.
The collision happened just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday on the northbound Highway 427 ramp leading to westbound Highway 401. A sedan and an SUV collided, and paramedics told CityNews four of the patients taken to a trauma centre suffered what were described as life-altering injuries.
Navdeep Singh, 24, of Kitchener, faces two counts of operation while impaired causing bodily harm, two counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm, two counts of failing to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm, and one count of operation while impaired. The highway ramp was closed through the morning for the investigation.
The crash was one of at least three serious incidents across Toronto-area roadways overnight Sunday, including a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run at Keele Street and Steeles Avenue and a motorcyclist crash in North York.
