Hollywood divorces are not usually described as warm, but this one now has an unusual footnote. Tobey Maguire officiated the wedding of his former wife, Jennifer Meyer, as she married music executive Geoffrey Ogunlesi at a resort ceremony in Hawaii last Saturday, according to People magazine's reporting.
The timing is what caught the entertainment press's attention: Maguire and Meyer's own divorce was only finalised on September 21, weeks before he stood in front of guests to conduct her wedding ceremony. Photographs from the event at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai showed the actor in a black suit, smiling alongside the newlyweds.
Maguire and Meyer met in 2003 and married in Hawaii in 2007. They announced their separation in 2016, and Meyer filed for divorce in 2020. They share two children, Ruby, 19, and Otis, 17, and both have spoken publicly about keeping their family close despite the split.
Meyer has previously called Maguire the best ex-husband a girl could have. Officiating your former spouse's wedding is an unconventional way to prove it, but as celebrity post-divorce arrangements go, it may be the friendliest on record.
