Conflicting accounts have followed Sean 'Diddy' Combs' brief hospital treatment for a head injury, and federal prison officials are now firmly disputing one version of events.
TMZ reported on October 14, citing unnamed prison sources, that Combs had been injured in a confrontation with another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix, New Jersey, where he is serving a 50-month sentence. People magazine carried a similar account based on a source.
In a response reported by USA Today on October 15, a Bureau of Prisons spokesperson said the story being circulated was false and did not happen, while declining to discuss an individual prisoner's medical circumstances. A member of Combs' family, speaking through entertainment journalist Loren LoRosa on The Breakfast Club on Thursday, likewise insisted there was no fight at all.
An earlier Page Six report said Combs struck his head on a bunk bed. As OTMedia reported on October 12, Combs was taken to hospital in the early hours of Saturday, October 10 and returned to the facility before sunrise; the cause of the injury has never been officially explained, and the latest denials leave that question open.
