The horror is not ending. FX has officially renewed 'American Horror Story' for Season 14, confirming the pickup ahead of the Season 13 finale on October 29 — the anthology's first renewal in nearly seven years, since the three-season order in January 2020 that carried it through Season 13.
The renewal follows a record-breaking run for the current season. Season 13 debuted with roughly 4 million views in its first four days on Hulu and Disney+, the biggest streaming premiere in franchise history and Ryan Murphy's biggest launch ever on the platforms, landing in Nielsen's streaming Top 10 in its first two weeks. The franchise, FX's longest-running hour-long series, will likely pass 150 episodes with the new season.
Season 13 has been an event in itself: a crossover chapter reuniting the show's biggest names, including Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Emma Roberts, alongside Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman, plus newcomers Joey Pollari and Paul Anthony Kelly.
No theme, cast or premiere date has been announced for Season 14 — the anthology format means each season is a fresh story. Murphy has said he wants to keep making the series indefinitely and has floated exploring an international version of the format.
The series returns Thursday with episodes 11 and 12 ahead of the finale. Since its 2011 debut, 'American Horror Story' has collected more than 100 Emmy nominations and 17 wins — and, as of this week, at least one more season of scares.
