Sean 'Diddy' Combs was rushed out of the federal prison at Fort Dix, New Jersey, in the early hours of Saturday for hospital treatment of a head injury, TMZ reported on Monday.

According to the report, an ambulance left the facility at about 1 a.m. on Saturday. Sources told TMZ the injury was not considered life-threatening: Combs was conscious and speaking, and he was returned to the prison before sunrise the same morning. The hospital that treated him has not been identified.

How Combs was injured remains unclear. Some syndicated accounts described a fall, but TMZ's own reporting says the cause is unknown, and the U.S. Bureau of Prisons has offered no official explanation.

A representative for Combs told Page Six that his team is aware of the reports and working to confirm the circumstances, saying his health is the immediate concern.

Combs, 56, is serving a sentence of four years and two months after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious sex-trafficking and racketeering charges at his trial.
