China Telecom's AI workplace agent TeleAgent has crossed 1.5 million registered users, with more than 200,000 people using it every day — a leap from just 27,000 daily users in mid-June. The milestone was announced Friday by the carrier's executive director, president, and chief operating officer Liu Guiqing at PT Expo China 2026.

TeleAgent, built by China Telecom's AI research arm TeleAI and first unveiled at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026, is positioning itself as an enterprise-grade AI assistant for the modern office. Since a mid-August update, it has shipped both an enterprise SaaS edition and a private-deployment edition aimed at companies with strict data requirements.

A standout feature is its skill marketplace, which now hosts more than 50,000 skills — and, remarkably, 99 percent of them were built by end users rather than by China Telecom itself. That grassroots ecosystem suggests the platform is catching on as a customizable work tool rather than just a chatbot.

The software runs across Windows, macOS, and China's domestic Kylin OS and UOS systems, underscoring its ambitions to become the default AI layer for Chinese workplaces. The explosive growth — daily users up roughly sevenfold in under four months — marks one of the fastest AI adoption stories in the enterprise space this year.
