Tuesday opens a month-long stretch of megacap earnings that will test the market's AI trade. Netflix reports after the close, with the options market pricing a move of about 9.4 per cent either way, while GE Aerospace and General Motors report before the open.
SpaceX also reports third-quarter results after the close — its first quarter with actual Starship revenue — with investors watching AI capital spending after a $1.26 billion AI operating loss in the second quarter. Tesla and Meta follow on Wednesday, Procter & Gamble on Thursday, Amazon on October 29 and Apple's event on October 28.
Monday's session set a hopeful tone: the Nasdaq rose 1.11 per cent to 26,430.89, the S&P 500 gained 0.41 per cent to 7,690.73 and the semiconductor index climbed 1.61 per cent, with Amazon up 4.98 per cent and Tesla up 3.76 per cent. The Dow dipped 0.07 per cent and WTI crude fell 3.23 per cent to $98.13.
Analysts also flag bounce-back candidates in Microsoft, Shopify, Cadence Design Systems and CoreWeave, each down more than 25 per cent last week, if AI spending shows business returns. Separately, fresh third-quarter insider-buying analysis flags open-market purchases by Boston Scientific's Michael Mahoney, six Dick's Sporting Goods insiders, Uber's Dara Khosrowshahi and GameStop's Ryan Cohen.
