Alberta Premier Danielle Smith told a rally in Red Deer on Friday that Alberta and Canada do not agree on everything, but are on the same page when it comes to remaining in Confederation.
Prime Minister Mark Carney, appearing at the same rally, echoed the unity message, framing the referendum as arriving at both the best and the worst of times for the province.
Albertans vote on Monday, October 19, on whether to stay in Confederation or begin the legal process toward a second, binding separation referendum. Monday's vote is not itself an immediate independence decision.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre was also in Alberta on Friday making a parallel stay-in-Canada appeal, telling supporters that Albertans are not quitters.
