A province-wide Amber Alert remained active in Alberta on Monday evening for 7-year-old Aspen Wilson, who police say was abducted from her residence in Valleyview by her stepfather. Valleyview RCMP issued the emergency alert at approximately 12:15 p.m. local time, describing the situation as an extreme and immediate emergency.
Aspen is described as about 4 feet tall with a slim build, curly shoulder-length blond hair and blue eyes. Police identified her stepfather, Alexander Stone, 28, as the person believed to have taken her. Stone is described as 6 feet 5 inches tall, about 185 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Authorities believe Stone may be travelling in a grey 2004 Chevrolet Venture van bearing Alberta licence plate CWY 3459, possibly headed toward Slave Lake or Red Deer. The alert was broadcast across the province, urging residents to watch for the vehicle and the individuals described.
Members of the public are warned NOT to approach Stone or the vehicle. Anyone who sees the van, Aspen or the suspect should call 911 immediately or contact the RCMP at 310-RCMP. Details about the circumstances of the abduction remain limited, and Aspen's whereabouts have not been publicly confirmed.
