The Champions League produced its biggest shock of the season so far on Wednesday night, as Como — playing in the competition for the first time — beat Manchester United 4-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Nico Paz was the star of the night, curling Como in front inside two minutes, setting up the second and scoring the third himself, before Jacobo Ramon headed in the fourth. In Munich, Arsenal twice had to respond: Eberechi Eze put them ahead, Alphonso Davies equalised, Harry Kane's penalty restored Bayern's lead, and Declan Rice levelled at 2-2 eight minutes from time, ending Arsenal's 14-match winning run in the league phase but keeping them on seven points.

Real Madrid were ruthless at the Bernabeu, beating RB Leipzig 4-1 with Kylian Mbappe among the scorers — his 73rd Champions League goal. Elsewhere on Wednesday, Galatasaray won 4-2 at Lille, Aston Villa beat Viking 3-1, Club Brugge shut out Lens 3-0, Inter edged Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0, Real Betis beat Feyenoord 1-0 and LASK won 3-2 at Sporting CP.

Wednesday's nine games produced 34 goals and completed a Matchday 3 that began Tuesday with Paris Saint-Germain's 4-2 win over Barcelona, Liverpool's 4-3 defeat of Villarreal and Manchester City's 5-1 rout of AEK Athens. Como, Real Madrid, Aston Villa and Real Betis joined PSG and Liverpool on nine points at the top of the early league-phase picture.
